This is where Spielberg recreated the scene of the hanging of camp commandant Amon Goeth.

Amon Leopold Goeth was particularly brutal in setting an example to his underlings of how to treat the prisoners. He shot many people himself and had done this before when the ghettos in Kraków, Tarnów and Szebnie were liquidated.

After the war he was prosecuted by the Supreme National Tibunal in Kraków, and was found guilty of killing and persecution and sentenced to hang. The sentence was carried out on 13 September 1946.
